Gudrun Woitke is honored with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany
Gudrun Woitke is engaged in the work with children and young people on a voluntary basis and is focused on tolerance, integration and intercultural understanding. Together with other peers she founded the non-profit non-governmental association „Neue Wege – Miteinander” in 1999, which she currently chairs. The association emphasizes the work with young people, socially deprived people and with immigrants. Furthermore, she is involved in the migration and integration network in the Saalekreis region. During the incultural week she has been organized during the last years numerous events against right extremism. With the FRIDO barn she created a place where people of different nationalities have the opportunities for exchange and reflection and to receive support. Moreover, she initiated a German-Israeli youth exchange and organized in 2013 an International youth camp with participants from Lithuania, Poland, Israel and Germany the Saalekreis region. Additionally, she is working voluntarily in the telephone soul’s care in Halle (Saale).
